The Huffington Post: Iran Social Media Facing Serious Obstacles

The Huffington Post covered the shutdown of Internet access--regular and through proxies (channels that let Iranians travel to forbidden sites)--on 22 Bahman (February 11).

It's a great article and discusses how twitter and facbook were shut down.

  1. First of all I would like to say thanks for such an interesting perspective on technology in today's world.

This post in particular made me think about what our own media situation would be like with out access to the internet. T.V news shows today are notorious for having hidden agendas and biased hosts. The internet seems to be an effective way of stopping a lot of powerful agencies from introducing their ideals without reproach and criticism.

The real reason I'm a Computer Science major is to one day be able hack Murdoch's computer and make his homepage "The Daily Show".

But seriously I hope that Iranians never stop fighting for their right to the world's wealth of information.
